Nile Plywoods (U) Ltd — Uganda

Nile Plywoods (U) Ltd is one of Uganda’s most innovative and technologically advanced wood processing companies. It is a leading manufacturer and distributor of plywood, block boards, flush doors, ceiling boards, plain and laminated particle boards, MDF, veneered doors, treated electrical transmission poles (using Creosote and CCA), Changlin agricultural machines, and other value-added wood products across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo, South Sudan, and Burundi.

Located at plots 7-15 Parekh Road, Jinja, Nile Plywoods (U) Ltd was established in 1994 when it took over from Kira Sawmills. The company’s mission is to “provide customers with what they want, when they want it, and where they want it.” This straightforward approach has enabled the company to capture both local and international markets with high-quality Ugandan products.

This success has been achieved by modernizing the manufacturing plant to meet international standards and by employing highly experienced professionals with over 20 to 30 years of expertise. Additionally, Nile Plywoods operates an electric wooden pole treatment facility in Kakonge, Nakasongola district, producing 110,000 Creosote-treated poles and 55,000 CCA-treated poles annually. The company offers superior wooden pole treatment using Creosote oil and CCA (Copper Chromium Arsenic).

Nile Fibreboard — Uganda

Nile Fibreboard is Uganda’s first and only MDF producer with an installed capacity of ~190 m³/day. The site includes a lamination line delivering high-quality laminated MDF boards and a stylish engineered laminated flooring range—designed to fill the market gap for sustainable, locally made flooring.

Comply Industries — Kenya

Comply Industries Limited, based in Nakuru, Kenya, is a wood processing company that manufactures plywood, block boards, flush doors, particleboards, and medium density fiberboards (MDF). It was the first company in East Africa to produce MDF boards, with a daily production capacity of 200 cubic meters and employing 1,900 people directly. Similar to NilePly in Uganda, Comply is strongly dedicated to sustainable forestry and supports the Kenyan government’s reforestation efforts, having planted 6,100,000 seedlings so far. Comply has been instrumental in Kenya’s construction sector by offering modern products that meet the evolving demands of Kenyan consumers, helping to modernize the product range and stay current with the latest industry advancements.

Raiply Malawi — Malawi

Raiply Malawi Limited, based in Chikangawa, manufactures plywood, block boards, flush doors, particleboards, and medium density fiberboards. It was the first company in Malawi to produce MDF boards, with a daily production capacity of 200 cubic meters.

Aligned with the Sarrai group’s commitment to a green economy, Raiply is involved in the entire forest lifecycle, starting from nursery development, through first and second thinning, to harvesting and processing. The company holds a concession of more than 20,000 hectares in the Chikangawa Forest, has replanted over 7,000 hectares so far, and plants an additional 500 hectares each year. Raiply fully manages this concession area, including building and maintaining roads, preventing and controlling fires, and overseeing silvicultural practices.

Raiply employs 2,400 people directly and, through its significant exports, makes a major contribution to Malawi’s trade balance.
